
The Utti Fort is situated in the municipality of Valkeala in Kymenlaakso. It is built alongside the Vyborg high road (nowadays Main Road no. 6) that runs along the Salpausselkä ridge about 10 km east of the town of Kouvola.
1788-1790 Sweden and Russia at war, battle fought at Utti on 28 June 1789.
1791 Under the command of General Alexander Suvorov, Russia builds a fort at Utti as part of the new defence system for St. Petersburg. The Utti guard fort is a small regular bastion fortification consisting of six bastions and a ravelin. Utti Fort contained about 10 buildings.
Post 1809 Russia disbands the fort at Utti.
1980s Restoration of the fort begins.
The National Board of Antiquities and the Ministry of Labour have restored Utti Fort for tourist use. It is open to the public but there are no regular guided tours.
