Located in South Karelia on the road from Lappeenranta to Mikkeli in Savo.

1791 Under the command of General Alexander Suvorov, Russia builds a fort at Järvitaipale as part of the new defence system for St. Petersburg. The Järvitaipale guard fort is a small oblong fortification comprising eight bastions surrounding about 10 buildings. To the east of Järvitaipale there was a separate arrow-shaped fort.

Post 1809 Russia disbands the fort of Järvitaipale.

Thus far the fort of Järvitaipale has not been restored or used for tourist purposes.
